Subtitle shifter: sync SRT timing
Subtitles a couple of seconds ahead or behind the voice? Shift every line at once and download the fixed file. Free, and the file stays on your device.
How to sync subtitles
-
Find how far off they are
Play the video with the subtitles and note a line: if it appears 2 seconds before the person says it, the subtitles are 2 seconds early.
-
Shift by that amount
Early subtitles need a positive shift (2 moves everything 2 seconds later); late ones need a negative shift (−1.5 moves everything 1.5 seconds earlier). Tenths of a second work too.
-
Download and check
The file comes back in the same format, named
….shifted.srt. Load it with the video and check a line near the start and one near the end.
In sync at the start, off by the end?
Then the subtitles were made for a version of the video with a different frame rate (25 vs 23.976 fps is the usual pair), and the gap grows over time. A single shift can't fix that; the simplest way out is new subtitles made from your copy of the video with Video to SRT.
